Iranian Women’s National Soccer Team Banned from Olympic Qualifying Tournament
It’s important to remember that women’s rights in Iran are trampled on in every category and they’re treated as second class citizens, at best. They are required to wear the veil; it is NOT their personal choice.
The only countries that mandate the hijab today are Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Things like this make me so sad. I hate that we’re all western minded when it comes to women’s rights.
When it comes to women’s rights, there is no division between Western and Eastern. I am an Iranian-American and was born in Iran. I’ve witnessed what this barbaric regime has done to Iranian women in general and what the hijab mandate has done to their collective spirit in particular. Please take a moment and watch this video of the 1979 March against the Hijab in Iran. These women are not “Western-minded”; they are freedom-minded. I personally cannot watch it without crying.
